Hello. I’d like to introduce myself and tell you a bit about my background. I have over 20 years of experience as a practicing psychotherapist, which gives me a deeply held passion for helping people transform their lives. My expertise is in the areas of sexual trauma and abuse, eating disorders, and marriage and family counseling. My preparation and education includes advanced training in sexual trauma, complex trauma, and sexual addiction through Masters and Johnson. As an affiliate faculty member at Regis University and former Assistant Professor at Colorado Christian University, I have also taught graduate courses in each of these fields.
Spirituality and Psychotherapy
I see counseling as a journey of soul-tending. Emotional well-being and spiritual peace are intricately connected. As such, anything that improves the psyche enriches the soul, and vice versa. It may be important to you to include your faith or spiritual walk into the counseling process. At the same time, if you prefer to look only at your mental health, we will focus only on those concerns together. If you do wish to incorporate your spiritual life into your counseling, I will gladly attend to your faith as we walk together to emotional wellness. I have training as a Spiritual Director through Contemplative Outreach of Colorado. I have practiced both Spiritual Direction and Psychotherapy in various settings throughout the years. Counseling usually focuses on psychological health, while spiritual direction focuses on faith or soul wounds. Each discipline focuses on a different aspect of human prosperity; however, from my perspective, both emotional and spiritual wellness are essential.
My approach to our work together is collaborative. I’ll work compassionately and respectfully with you to find solutions to whatever difficulties you face.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I enjoy teaching, and supervising other mental health professionals.
